Pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) encompasses a broad spectrum of maternal blood pressure disorders ranging from gestational HTN to pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome. Risk factors for PIH include a history of PIH in prior pregnancies, first pregnancies (primigravida), multiple gestation, maternal obesity, and maternal chronic illness.
